Susan Marks

Susan Marks aka Marks is a screenwriter, documentary filmmaker and author. She recently received an ISA fellowship for her pilot, All that Glitters and was named ISA 25 Screenwriters to Watch in 2026. She also recently won an Emmy for a PBS documentary she directed. Her screenplay, Dollhouse of Death sold to HBO and Academy Award Winner, Guillermo del Toro. Her documentary film with collaborators John Kurtis Dehn and Matt Ehling, Of Dolls & Murder, stars the iconic John Waters as narrator. She also wrote a book, pilot, feature and made a documentary about the most famous woman who never existed, Betty Crocker.
Matt Ehling

Matt is an Emmy Award-winning cinematographer whose work is seen frequently on PBS and at major festivals. He collaborated with John Kurtis Dehn and Susan Marks on Of Dolls & Murder and most recently on Murder in a Nutshell: The Frances Glessner Lee Story. Matt’s films, Urban Warrior and Security and the Constitution, garnered national recognition while sparking dialogue about issues of personal rights and national security. Matt won the grand prize in the Minnesota Historical Society’s Greatest Generation documentary film contest for his film about his grandfather.
John Kurtis Dehn

John is a documentary filmmaker and musician. He produced, edited, and composed the soundtrack for the documentary film
Of Dolls and Murder and has edited numerous other documentary films, including We Are the River : How the Mississippi Shaped Minnesota and Inner Gold, a portrait of the fiber artist Tressa Sularz. His work has been shown at festivals both nationally and internationally. For 30 years, he has produced educational programs about mental health, substance use, domestic violence, the environment, and more.
